Clarification of information after SR P4 feature
Port of Karlshamn clarifies information about monuments following Sveriges Radio's feature on January 22, 2025
In response to Sveriges Radio's feature on January 22, 2025, the Port of Karlshamn would like to clarify the following:
- No contact from Blekinge Museum: Blekinge Museum has not been in contact with the Port of Karlshamn for the past 15 months. Nor has there been any inquiry from the museum regarding the monument during this period. The headline that the museum is being denied in the present is therefore misleading.
- Request from Sveriges Radio: On January 7, 2025, the Port of Karlshamn received a request from Sveriges Radio to take the monument for photography for an article. According to Sveriges Radio, the monument had been in a magazine for a few years. At that time, the Port of Karlshamn did not have the opportunity to allocate staff ad hoc to inventory the magazine.
- Interview with Sveriges Radio: On January 10, 2025, a Sveriges Radio reporter conducted an interview with one of our Department Managers who worked in the port during the Nord Stream project. The interview aimed to answer questions about the monument. It is therefore misleading to claim that the port does not want to answer questions about the monument.
- Transfer of the monument: Provided that the monument is still in the possession of the Port of Karlshamn, the Port of Karlshamn welcomes a request from Blekinge Museum to take over the monument. This would free up space in our warehouses for what is our mission: socially critical port activities. At present, no such request has been received from Blekinge Museum.
