Harbormaster
Apply
Do you want to work in a central role in a dynamic port environment where no two days are the same? The Port of Karlshamn is now looking for two port officers for the port service and tugboat operations. Here you will have the opportunity to be a key person in the planning and execution of ship towing, develop the operations' processes and contribute to safe and efficient port operations.
The Port of Karlshamn is a strategically located logistics hub with efficient access to air, rail and European roads. The port handles a wide range of goods, from forest products to industrial materials and energy, ensuring high precision and reliability at every stage. The operation is an important part of the region's transport infrastructure and plays a central role in the south-eastern Baltic Sea.
Your Tasks
As a harbor master, you will be a central part of harbor service, a department that is part of the Energy Port and acts as the harbor authority. You will work together with a team of eight colleagues and be responsible for both planning and operational participation in the tugboat operations. Your everyday life will include:
-
Plan and coordinate ship towing and ensure that customer needs are taken care of
-
Be responsible for external operations and handle contracts, billing, discrepancies and inquiries
-
Participate operationally in the work surrounding the tugboats and drive the vessels when necessary
-
Manage referrals, government issues and documentation for upcoming assignments
-
Work with continuous development of procedures, security and workflows
-
Interact with brokers, customers, authorities and other stakeholders during ship calls and operational events
One of the positions has a specific focus on administration, while the other is more focused on projects and maintenance. The role is mainly daytime, but also includes on-call and emergency services. We are open to dialogue about alternative working hours solutions.
As a harbor master, you will be a key person in creating safety, quality and efficiency in the business - both internally and towards customers.
Your Profile
We are looking for someone who has:
-
Naval officer training with at least Class VI qualification
-
Experience from the shipping industry (experience on ASD tugboats is an asset)
-
Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
-
Good system skills, especially in the Office suite
-
Driving license and Swedish citizenship (requirement)
As a person, you are collaborative, communicative and confident in taking your own initiative. The role involves many contact areas and at times a fast pace, which requires a good ability to make quick and well-founded decisions. You enjoy varied work tasks and are able to adapt easily when the situation requires it.
