FOCUS ON OPERATION AND BUSINESS AHEAD!

Finally we can put the conflict between the Port Workers Union and Swedish Ports Association behind us! The new deal is good for Sweden and for Port of Karlshamn! The agreement means a much more stable situation which enable us to give our activities and our customer relations full attention and develop the port futher. We are many winners.

Although it has been much about the conflict during some time, the work in has continued in many aspects. We are very pleased with the increased activities in the oil market and one of our rock cavities for storage of heavy oil is almost filled up.

Another positive sign is the increase of rail traffic in the port. Last year more than 14.000 rail wagons were handled in Karlshamn, compared with 4.000 five years ago. The plans for further shunting tracks in the port area are proceeding. In the near future the port, together with other stakeholders as the industry, will meet with the Swedish Transport Administration with the purpose to speed up the construction start of "Sydostlänken" (South East Link). A 12 km missing railway link connecting Port of Karlshamn with Volvo Cars Olofström, IKEA Älmhult and the main North-South railway line in Sweden.

Port of Karlshamn are also working on another important strategic development. It is the construction a completely new RoRo-berth with capacity for ferries with a length of 230 metres. Linked to the new berth, we are investigating the possibility to relocate the line-up of accompanied vehicles from present location to our 30 hectar vast expansion area south of the intermodal rail terminal, where we store the Nord Stream pipes at the moment. By doing this relocation, we will open new possibilities for developing the port area.

For year 2018 the port also will present the highest turnover ever, reaching almost 250 million SEK. The final result is not official yet, but looks very promising.

Mats Olsson,

Managing Director Karlshamn Hamn AB
