DFDS has signed a contract with the Chinese Ship Yard Guangszhou for construction of two Ro-Pax vessels with delivery 2021.

With six routes in the Baltic Sea, DFDS expect further growth in the market. In order to meet future demand the Shipping company now invests in two new Ro-Pax ferries. A 2,5 billion DKR investment and DFDS will take delivery during Q1 and Q3 2021. The vessels has a capacity of 4.500 lane metres each for freight- and passenger vehicles and also 600 passengers, compared with the largest vessels trading in Baltic Sea today for DFDS, which has a capacity of 2.800 lane metres. The new vessels have a length of 230 metres.

- The intention is to deploy the new vessels on one of our lines, Karlshamn-Klaipeda or Klaipeda-Kiel. With three years before delivery, it is difficult to say which line today, says Lars Malmström, Site Manager DFDS Shipping Division in Karlshamn.

The vessels will be constructed according to the latest environmental standards, meaning lowest possible fuel consumtion and emissions. They will be equipped with Scrubbers.
